Have you ever asked what’s going in Blairgowrie and Rattray? Or wanted to know where to go to find out more about how you can get involved in community life here in Perthshire’s largest town?

Well, the Town Event is just what you need!

The popular showcase event, which takes place every year, offers local residents an opportunity to find out more about the wide variety of activities and events that take place in Blairgowrie and Rattray – and it’s a great way for those who go along to get involved with some of the diverse range of initiatives and projects happening in the town.

Organised by Blairgowrie and Rattray Development Trust (BRDT), it also gives community groups, event organisers and associations in the town an opportunity to highlight the work they are doing locally, with lots of groups providing information and updates on activities undertaken by hardworking volunteers.

It’s always a great afternoon with dozens of community groups taking part each year. So whether you are interested in coaching young people in sporting activities, hill walking or rambling, crocheting with like-minded people over a cuppa, gardening, amateur dramatics, or delivering soup with the Saturday Lunch Club, there is a group that will appeal to you!

The Town Event is just one of a number of ways in which BRDT works to actively promote, communicate and coordinate what is happening in Blairgowrie and Rattray.

The Development Trust also hosts quarterly online get-togethers for community groups to share their latest news and updates, and publishes the Hub Magazine, which is distributed free to more than 5000 homes in the town four times a year.

BRDT is also behind the Discover Blairgowrie website and social media page, both of which reach thousands of people every week. The website provides more than 150 local community groups and 250 local businesses with a platform to add their details, events and activities, and offers local residents and visitors to the town a ‘one-stop shop’ for information on what’s going on in Blairgowrie and Rattray.
